Maybe you will wonder why, suddenly the term, Domuya Universe start popping up everywhere in Domuya's Website. Actually what we are doing now is to pick up from what we have left off in year 2006.
Starting from 2006, Domuya has been trying to create an Universe, during that time, the first attempt was "Tales of Domu-City", the story of G and Sai. In Domuya, coming to creating a doll, we strongly believe that we are not merely creating a doll, a product. We are creating a "Life". When we, R&D team of Domuya Limited, during a doll development process, we DO NOT adopt the "first just create a doll, THEN think of how we are going to sell it" approach. Nor do we just leave the creation process just to our Sculptor blindly. Here is how we do: - First we will decide what to make, this will involve the entire R&D department.
- After a subject is firm up, we will then start a "committee", we will decide who will be involve in the project.
- The Team will then start to dream :P during this process, we will also involve our writer and illustrator.
- We will always start with an "Universe", which our doll/ character lives in. A story board will be form during this stage.
- We will start from character background, personality, history, story and how he/ she will interact with our "Universe". Before this stage, we do not start the doll making process.
You may ask why we are doing so many unrelated thing in making a doll... It is because we believe, when it come to doll making, we do not merely create a product, we want to create a character, we want to inject life into our doll. A character that will live in both yours and our heart. With the "Universe" approach, every single slice our sculptor land, every single line our fashion design draw, every single stroke our make up artist apply, we know exactly what we are creating, and every single action will be nearer to the birth of our character. All character lives in our heart. When Marlene or Divon dies, our heart aches. We do know that the characteristic of BJD is customization, character might change when it landed in our customers' hand, but that does not stop us from doing this. You can also see it as we are creating different "base" character for our customer to start with :P We do believe that only we are creating with our heart, then we are able to create a doll worth presenting to you! Dirge of Glory, our latest "Universe" in 2008, it is just a beginning, the beginning of all the exciting Universe coming your way!
